Analysis of She Follows

Lorraine Visvikis 1974 (New York)

She follows her down yonder path
filled with sunshine and morning light,
content to walk on the same path
exchanging looks of sweet delight.

The day wears on, they take a turn
one's steps fall behind the other;
the distance grows, the young one knows
there are new paths to discover.

Her pace quickens to breathe fresh air,
the gap grows wider as it should;
distinct paths forward for each one,
she would not change it if she could.
