Analysis of RESIDENTS

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

High in the crystal manor
Within the land of death,
Residents of all persuasions
Breathe their final breath.

Vast reptilian creatures
Lumber around great rooms,
Loathsome veil-like beings
Are lurking in the gloom.

Concealed as dust covers
They wait till after Darkfall,
Then descend upon the living
Like a smothering outsized caul.

Piscine horrors are swimming
Within the large rooftop pool,
To feast upon foolish swimmers
Like strange, aquatic ghouls.

Gorgeous ebony maidens
Beautiful and yet lethal,
Seducing the innocent
To take to heaven then to Hell.

Phantom housemen ride
Through musty corridors,
Leading skeletal warriors
Slaughtering by the score.

High in the crystal manor
Where only evil grows,
No-one with a will to live
Would surely ever go.

Acidic dust is falling
Like blackened acid rain,
Within this ancient residence
Where only terror remains.
