Analysis of A Somber Melody
The somber melody of the bow against the strings of my veins
Many people wish not to hear it, or simply tune it out
When I play the song, It begins and ends in a sorrow signature of D minor
Sometimes I don’t understand why I have such a weakness for the song
But when the time comes I understand and know just how to play it
For I do not need music, I merely just sight-read with no hesitation
The song may be seen as a protest song, with threats if I don’t stop playing it
Even so, I ignore it
When the melody is over, I myself wish to never hear it again
Nevertheless, I have a bittersweet love of the somber melody.

About this poem
I wrote this poem last-minute during class for an assignment, but for the longest time, I wanted to be able to express how I felt during a very melancholic/empty period of my life, without blatantly saying it.
