Analysis of My Lord and Master
Karl Constantine FOLKES 1935 (Portland)
My Lord and Master
At Gethsemane He prayed
Urgent the hour
Rejoicing while others wept
In place of us He marched on
Christ our Lord and King
Expecting what awaited.
In service to God
Remembering the Promise
Victory at the Cross
In Him as our Savior
Nurtured by the Holy Spirit.

About this poem
This unrhymed 2-stanza poem is written in the form of an acrostic and dedicated by the pastors, governing board members, and congregation-at-large of Elim Alliance Church, Valley Cottage, New York, to the Reverend Dr. Maurice Ray Irvin, a nonagenarian servant of the Lord, for his ministry to the Rockland County Community, and to his faithful dedicated service of more than 70 years as pastor, teacher, and editor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. May the Lord continue to fruitfully bless his ministry as this veteran pastor, the Reverend Maurice Irvin continues his faithful service in a new capacity of ministry in the state of Pennsylvania. To God be the honor, glory, and praise. more »
