Analysis of Stronghold
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
God is my light and salvation,
For He is to whom I shall fear;
Stronghold of life my foundation,
Who I shall honor and revere.
For of whom shall I be afraid,
As being the strength of my life;
Against evildoers He gives aid,
As they fall in the midst of strife.
Their army encamps against me.
But my heart shall never have fear;
Though war shall rise that they decree,
My confidence knows God is near.
One thing have I asked of the Lord,
That I may dwell my life always;
I seek my days in one accord,
Living throughout all of my days.
Behold the beauty of the Lord,
As I wonder in His temple;
Hiding from the enemy sword,
As to remain His disciple.
He will shield me from the trouble,
By lifting me upon His rock;
Sheltering me from the rubble,
And being solid where I walk.
Now my head shall be lifted up,
Sacrifices of joyous shouts;
Strengthened as I drink from His cup,
Singing praise without any doubts.
