Analysis of Dear Me

Love you like you’re all you have left
Love away the pain
The shame
Love yourself enough to stay sane
Remember, they’re crazy to leave you
You’re not always to blame
Don’t lose yourself
If you do, let self-love be your compass
Let honesty to be the gravity
Baby, pull yourself together
Find your center
The ones who love you will be the circumference
Keep your circle small
The fake ones will fall back while the real ones help you fix your spine
It’s time to let love heal you
It’s time to feel you so you can refill you
Rebuild you
This is not a drill
There will always be people out here ready to screw you over
Don’t let that change you a bit
You’ve nailed having the spirit of a phoenix
Your heart is filled with a fire and passion that God imagined in order to create you
Your vibe is intoxicating
That’s why your name is Takila
You’re amazing
You’re greater than the battles you’re facing
Your potential is hungry
Greatness is what you’re craving
Your life comes in stages
Your character is always looking for a better role
Roll with the punches
It takes guts to keep going
Don’t let the demons box you in
Get hooked on the feeling of being proud of yourself
Life will get Rocky
Have the attitude of “nobody can stop me”
Keep the focus of a telescope so you can see the light in you when it’s dark
You are star material
Your gift is written in the constellations
That’s why people look up to you
And so do I
You’ve been putting in work to be your higher self
You deserve a raise
I took the time to grieve the old you with flowers, not a grave
You never gave up so I refuse to let you down
I will love you through the silence until you’re ready to make a sound
I’ll be the one to tilt your head up and fix your crown
You’re beautiful, intelligent, strong
So stunning
I love you, but I’m falling in love with the woman you’re becoming

About this poem

This poem was written a few months after my depression to uplift and speak life into myself. I’m rediscovering self-love and God.
