Analysis of Stumps for Fingernails

Bloody stumps for fingernails,
is all I have to show,
for all of my constraint,
to contain the overflow.
For every inconvenience,
you simply couldn't bear,
I added to my pile,
And carried everywhere.
When you did not have the time,
to face your fears, mistakes, and pain,
You stacked in all on me,
And I didn't even strain.
I said nothing when my pile,
grew so high to kiss the moon.
I just stuffed away the hurts for you,
and whistled out a tune.
A masterful pretender,
and fooling even me,
I accepted my life sentence,
just to smile and agree.
I stand alone in peace
And the peace, oh I did keep.
But the weight is now too heavy.
Too hefty is this heap.
And all of your discomfort,
that was placed atop my pile,
doesn't disappear with me.
It grows by every mile.
But because I am no diva,
and don't wish to complain,
the pile that you didn't want,
I continue to maintain.
To never dim your twinkle,
I do not wish to glow.
And bloody stumps for fingernails,
is all I have to show.

About this poem

I wrote this poem out of sheer frustration at myself. Do you know the feeling of finally realizing just how pathetic you have been in a relationship? That is where this came from. I had bitten down all of my nails.
