Analysis of Helpless thoughts

I can’t control you
Still I love you
Do you know
The pain I go through

You smoke the poison
Oh so willing
Over time it’s creeping, killing
My heart is breaking, aching, chilling

What is life without you near
In sullen secret I shed a tear
You do not eat the foods of health
Your dreams are dusting on the shelf

What can I do
My one true love
You have your own free will

Still I love you
Still I want you
But these thoughts
Do haunt and chill

About this poem

I wrote this poem one morning when I was feeling particularly sad that my boyfriend smokes cigarettes and does not eat healthily. It is one of my first poems ever!
