Analysis of Father, Forgive.
Douglas Blair 1951 (London)
Could it be
That He saw through
Screaming nails
Screaming jaws.
And religionists
In murder partaking.
That He saw Me
In all weakness
In play-acting
And pride.
But he hoped for
Better things
To birth inside.
No, I wasn't at the scene.
Heard from townsfolk
Who'd been mean
Quickly joining
In the jeers to
Have Him raised.
And the Romans
Pierced His side
Blood and water.
Crucified.
Now He has
My hopes and
Never-ceasing praise.
But the ending
Was a shock
Thrilling resurrection talk
Cleansing, healing
From His emanating rays.
Yes, the Christ had come
Fulfilling Psalm 16
And He paved a Way
For me, saved and clean.
