Analysis of As Addictions End

You throw stones and wave sticks,
thinking that will end this;
You attack with words,
hoping they’ll push me backwards.

But cords and choruses still fill your ear,
I wonder if they’ll always be there?

You shake your fists and kick,
Fighting as if you're cornered by brick;
You sneer at me and glass starts to shatter
I wonder what is the matter?

Screaming for mercy, begging for chances,
What happened to make you so stance-less?

You stop and stand so still,
Gazing at something and it boosts your will;
I see it too, and I’ll follow you,
I know there's still work to do.

Now you no longer notice me.
I worry what will become of me?

I take guesses at your choices
trying to cycle through all the voices
I cannot see a thing through this darkness that binds,
It pulls me into an abyss that has no mind
I feel I’ve lost all sense of you and I
We cannot see through the same eyes;
But You’ve forgotten that I cannot die.
You have no will, you won’t survive.

What's this fire in your soul?
It’s burning me, I’m no longer whole.
Why do you drop me?
Why would you stop me?

Oh, I’ve forgotten that smile,
the one I took and defiled.
That wretched backbone
I could never quite hold prone.

I’ve fallen to your bait,
broken is my fate.

About this poem

My take on dealing with and braking addiction. With the presptive following the addiction's thoughts, rather than the persons.
