Analysis of Trapped

Katja Martens 1991 (Bellevue, NE)

Trapped
You held me like you never wanted me to leave.
Moved in close to imagining what could be.
Suddenly I feel as if I'm in a dream.
Wishing, wanting trying not to scream.
Its her smile, her eyes, the way she looks at me.
I know there something there but will she ever see.
Look deep into her eyes trying to see her thoughts, but lost in her beauty, was as far as I got.
Distracted by her smile and held, hostage by her eyes.
I'm trapped.....Her arms around me like a cage.
Deep inside I'm hoping she'll never let go.
All these things running through my head but she'll never know.
Her grip grows week as she starts to slip away.
In the back of my mind I'm screaming for her to stay.
Dying to ask her how she really feels, but I'm terrified  none of this could ever be real.
I'm trapped in this dream that will never come true
My only savior being you.

Poetry has always been how I express myself. When I can’t find the words to say out aloud, or to shy to express a feeling, poetry always helps me communicate. I work over nights for logistics company and coach high school track and field. more…
