Analysis of Libiamo*

Douglas Blair 1951 (London)

Not that I am prone to drink
I had my times with that
If caught, a blowing over date
Excuses got down pat.
But others still embrace the glass.
They sing and dance with glee.
Just like Andre Rieu and friends.
They concert happily.
Italian is this word* with joy.
No excess, just the lark.
In having times with
Heartfelt friends.
And brightening up what’s dark.
