Analysis of Not a Prayer; Hardly.

Douglas Blair 1951 (London)

Not a prayer
But a quietude.
Sourced in I love
You Heavenly Father.
You know my needs
I will not blurt
Them out for the moment.
I come close, waiting.
Wondering at you.
As Holy Spirit urges.
Just like that retriever
Dog of mine
Flopped down beneath
The Easy Chair.
Hearth crackling nearby.
Best posture.
Best frame of mind.
Worship unspeakable.
Unstoppable.
Occasionally he shifts
As I shift my feet.

(A good time to read Psalm 77: 6-13)
