Analysis of The immovable mountain
This perilous tug of war must cease
my hands are burnt and weary
from grasping a rope
that must be relinquished
For I have attempted to conquer
an impossible mountain
my back has begun to surge with pain
The reality here is inevitable
no longer can I change
what is beyond my grasp
In heartfelt desperation
I have embraced an illusion
a fantasy for which there is
no happy conclusion
Insecurity and fear have molded you
into an unemotional iceberg
Our bedroom once was like the Carriibean
now I'm sleeping in Antartica
I extended my deepest aspirations to you
upon a fine sterling platter
only to receive an empty gray plate
There was a brief moment
I witnessed the door slightly ajar
abruptly it slammed violently shut
So much time has vanished
too many vain attempts
Nonetheless I will not concede to defeat
Your eyes are sealed shut
now to a narrow mindset
and a self loathing soul
An invaluable lesson is painfully learned
I cannot change someone else
only myself for the better
Now I observe the birth of a butterfly
as a blast of fresh soothing air
soars within
charred hands have begun to heal
Your feet are covered in cement
while mine stand at the start line
of the doorway leading to the rest of my life
Mountains don't move
but you can
