Analysis of Chaos

Melissa Honrud 1994 (Fargo ND)

I’ll never understand the madness,
The inner workings of the heart,
..How we can strive to be so close,
Yet internally,
Feel miles and miles apart.

There seems to be no fail safe,
No ”time out” to this game,
Days and days go by,
Admittedly,
I feel my over-eagerness is to blame.

I just want to warm you,
My love like sunshine on your skin,
I want to make you happy,
And see your cheeky grin.

I want to be your everything,
Your bright light in this dim world,
Your lighthouse in safe harbors,
Your overabundant sureness,
Like a knight with his sword.

But it seems to me,
More and more,
Once I open my mouth,
I offer nothing but discord.

The more I ponder these scufflings,
The more I feel unsure,
The more that I helplessly flounder,
And leave heart ache at my door.

So Lord won’t you help me,
Bring a calm to this storm,
For through my over ambitions,
Chaos is irrevocably born.
