Analysis of Genes

This summer I had my Father’s genes
And wondered if it meant something
Burning quicker in the sun
Unlike when I was younger
With olive skin and salt watered hair
My skin, my hair, my heart

This summer I had my Father’s genes
And now it makes me wonder
If my Mother and her sun tanned body
Saw me and thought of him

This summer I had my Father’s genes
But what will happen next?
Will I once again have olive skin and a shade of lighter hair?
Am I as changeable as seasons?
And in heat or harshest cool
My skin, my hair, my heart

And the bluest eyes they both share
