Analysis of Therapy Sessions

As a child,
you cannot control what your parents do.
You cannot walk away from their drugs and mental abuse.
You don't understand a hug is a normal part of life and not just a reaction given at funerals.
  As a child,
you don't know why your mom is always working late and your dad is never home.
You don't know why the people you care for only talk when they're fighting.
And all you hear is how much they hate one another.
  As a child,
You don't understand why you get in trouble when you come home from school
for getting into trouble for fighting?
When that's all you know!
  As a child,
You don't understand why other kids are afraid of you?
You don't know how to talk to them without screaming and calling them names!
You are only starting fights because you care about them and want to be their friends!
So why don't they love you back? And why do you feel so alone?
  As an adult,
You don't know you're supposed to forget about the things you went through as a child.
You don't know you're supposed to forget about your dad beating all the women in your life.
You don't know you're supposed to forget about your mother sleeping with a new man every other week.
You don't know how you're ever going to be a parent to your own children  without seeing the ghost of your parent's gnashing teeth!
  As an adult,
You don't know you will figure this all out on your own.
And it was necessary for you to go through this as a child, so you would be sculpted into the parent you have become today.
You don't know all the suffering, all the fighting, all the hurt and anguish is what made you into this beautiful, responsible, loving, caring parent you have become today!
....and the therapy sessions you went through as a child were just nightmares!
But, without them, you would not have the dreams you do today!
