Analysis of Where I Lay

Lay me in a meadow,
That my lungs may fill up with rainwater
And that flowers may sprout from my skin.

Lay me in the forest,
That the trees may grow from my remains
And that mushrooms may thrive from my decay.

Lay me in the desert,
That the sun may boil away my blood
And that the sands will strip away my flesh.

Lay me by the sea,
That the surf may grind my bones to dust
And that my soul may enjoy the crashing of the waves.

Or simply lay me by her side,
That she may lay her head on my chest
And then see how once more I yearn to live.
