Analysis of Why Mama
Why Mama
I was not there when he did it
And although I understand why you hid it
I know you tried but couldn’t rid it
Why Mama
He was a brute I know
Removed and destroyed your glow
He ravaged like a devil pro
Why Mama
Why am I asked to pay
Why am I part of this fray
Why was I cast away
Mama let us pray pray pray
Your reason to love he stole
Destroyed your yearning and goal
In this I played no role
Why Mama
Why do I have to suffer
Why do you continue to suffer
Why is my life rougher
Why Mama
Mama tell me the truth
Let me relive my youth
Help me Save me soothe
My dying soul
You abandoned me with a lie
Prayed for me to die
We are victims you and I
Why Mama
Why Mama.

About this poem
This poem was inspired by my friend who found out when she reached adulthood that the person she grew to know as mother wasn't really her mother.
