Analysis of Dearest Mom. Bev.
Thinking about you now.
Mom. Gone September last year.
Not too thrilled as I recall.
My behaviour, latterly.
Short of patience.
Testy.
At your terrible memory.
Asking questions
Asking questions?
Needing a kiss, and
Then another five.
Not being able to follow.
Comprehend any bit of
A story or news
I chose to relate.
BUT HOW WRONG I WAS.
Rather now to remember
Your wonderful love of singing.
Your leadership in celebrating
Something. Most things.
Your great sense of humour.
Your tough upbringing.
Without a Mom at 14.
But then came Danish
Aunts to the rescue.
Mary and Lillian.
Father Ken doing all that he could.
Sir Adam Beck Collegiate.
Nurses’ training
With dearest best friend Dorothy.
Then wedded, 1947 to navigator
Radar guy, Jack, back
From Battle of Britain.
Ultimately sporting goods retailer
With you alongside.
Doing much to help; to plan; to laugh, to relieve.
Yeah, now I choose the memories
Laughter, family, golf, curling, oil paints and song.
Times at a cottage.
Trips to the Zoo.
Kept going on.
Tending gardens.
Painting a scene.
Times well spent.
Before the decline.
Now Above. And content.
Faculties un-bent.
