Analysis of Get What’s Mines

K.T. Brown 1990 (Greenwood, SC)

Getting what’s mines is something that I pray for
to make it happen so there’s no going back.
Regardless of what the world say,
there’s no holding back.
Every step I make I feel the pressure riding me,
but I keep it pushing like pleasure is in front of me;

That’s why I keep climbing up high.
I’m reaching up top of the ladder
just so my enemies will shatter,
let em’ be my stepping stool so I can reach higher
because the skies are limitless.

I’m doing more than getting by.
Yeah, I’m getting mines,
looking ahead instead of back,
ducking and dodging while haters take shots and miss.
I’m too swift to be placed at the edge of a mountain,
that’s why I never cease until I get what’s mines.
