Analysis of I'm Jealous Of Her Brain

I'm jealous of her brain.
Her poetry
How it cuts through the soul
Bringing grown men to their knees
Weeping like broken hearted children.

Her brain, a wonder to behold
Words flow like a river, untamed and bold
Verses that slice through the air
Leaving hearts broken, shattered in despair

I, in contrast, struggle to write
Words escaping me, like a bird in flight
Not the brightest, not the best
A GPA so low, it put me to the test

Cheating, my only solution
To graduate high school, no more confusion
But she, oh she is on another plane
A thesaurus of knowledge, a never-ending vein

Where does she store all those words?
Those similes, those metaphors, so absurd
Her brain, a vessel for creativity
I'm jealous, oh so full of envy

But more than that, I am happy
For her talent, her passion, her poetry
Write on, lady, let your words fly
Let the world hear your magic, let your voice reach the sky.

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
