Analysis of Ancestry
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
In the depths of a forest,
Lies a church, weathered and old.
Its walls, etched with memories
Of those who once called it home.
Beyond the church, a cemetery,
Where forgotten souls lay at rest.
Their names obscured by time's embrace,
Lost to the annals of history's quest.
Who were they, these forgotten few?
What stories, lives, and tales they knew?
Did they leave a lasting mark,
Or were they just a footnote in the past's bark?
In the depths of our ancestry,
Lurk countless faces we can't see.
Names and lives lost to time's cruel hand,
Leaving us to search the woods of history's land.
With each step forward, we uncover a clue,
Leading us to a lost relative, once anew.
Their names echo through the ages,
Bringing to life long-forgotten pages.
Gone but not forgotten,
Their spirits still roam.
Guiding us, stroking our curiosity,
To rediscover the legacies of all those lost to time's obscurity.
In the depths of the forest,
Lies our hidden history.
We must search, dig and explore,
To give our people their name back within our legacy
