Analysis of There’s a Friend who…
There’s a Friend who
Did me much good
His wife as well.
Both on disability.
Lay ministry in the past.
Storefront Church. Downtown.
Mostly the attendees had
Mental issues and grievous
Emotional needs.
Our two friends sparkled
With evangelical zeal
Song, dance, art, meals
Bible readings round the circle.
I watched literal
Transformations.
God’s Word made
For some wonderful fruit (Galatians 5)
Gave out a couple of sermons.
That effort folded
Few years back.
My friends chose
Roman Catholic affiliation.
And argued about the switch.
(His Dad had been
A Methodist pastor.
His Nephew now a Pentecostal leader .)
My friend demonstrated much
Intellectual pride.
Smerked as he gave his reasons.
Almost begging for dispute.
Haven’t we all stumbled
Over the same?
But it got to the point
That I severed all connection.
And that without recourse.
I guess they can have
Mary and the saints
And the exalted Pope’s high throne
And nuncios.
Folks we have a Trinity
And not a quadrinity (the Virgin).
Sadly the writer Paulo Cuelho
Endorses this error.
Has a huge readership.
(By the River Piedra
We sat down and Wept.)
No one can afford the Distraction.
The side-eddy from the
Mainstream.
Note to readers…Equitable AIDA does not like this poem. She is totally into Syncretism. Too bad.
