Analysis of A Challenge for Mel Gibson (to act, to direct)
Remember Passion of the Christ
All wonderful films
Birthed by Mel.
In a trashy Hollywood
Of silly superheroes.
Then came his shameful impaired
Making trouble for a Cop
Who was Jewish.
Bad emotional crisis.
Sorry for Mel.
Then came a number of
Film noir stories.
Bang bang shootemup.
Around that time
I had an idea…
Sent a letter to
Mel’s Producers in
I suggested a role that was
An interesting mix
Of Gospel and bygone
Scotland under pressure.
The twenty years of
Scottish Covenanters (1660 to 1680)
A time when preachers of
Solid stuff refused
To swear an Oath to
The King’s Anglican formats
Appointing godless puppies,
As Bishops serving
The King’s Agenda.
And not Jesus Christ
As Monarch of His Church.
The fight was on
Dragoons in fiery mode
Parishioners in disguise
Watching beloved pastors
Suffer for cause of
Genuine, loyal faith.
And die, quietly.
One such pastor
Was Alexander PEDEN
The Prophet of the Covenant
Hunted like an agile deer.
Thrilling the souls of the
Preaching to covert audiences
Under the stars
And solemn spires of Rock.
Lookouts posted all around.
This man Peden was my
Character suggestion for Mel.
His Producers totally
Dismissed the idea.
Saying strongly that
My letter was MOST
And that I was to leave
Mel alone and resting.
A great idea trashed!
