Et evigt Liv tør jeg ikke kræve,
Vorherre gav mig saa Meget her,
Men ogsaa Længsel for evigt at leve,
Og denne Længsel er størst hos Hver.
Han gav den, han kan os ikke bedrage.
O, Sum af Lyksalighed, mægtig og stor!
Aartusinder henflyve skal som Dage;
Min Skat fra vor Jord er mit Fadervor!
