Analysis of An unlikely friend In my garden

In my garden,
I nurture it's growth.
I tend to the weeds,
I give it nutrients when
It receives a watering,
from myself & the rain.

The grass grows taller than I can mow.
I watch as the weeds settle in.
There are shrubs that have self seeded
and taken over my plants.
There is also an Ibis that visits my garden ..
I've named her 'Mim.' Some have called her ugly, not seeing her resilience.

My dog sleeps inside on his bed,
until he hears the back door open.
His reaction is to chase this ibis away.
Jealous, that I also talk to her,
the way I speak to him and that
she has a name,  & gets some food.

I tell my dog that he has no reason to chase her as I feed her sardines, bread soaked in milk, seasoning from a BBQ chicken.
Perhaps our bond developed when I realised she would bring her fledglings to my garden...like a 'bird nursery .'

Sometimes I see her on the apex of my roof, 'strutting her stuff' with a branch, from my recent pruning.  She is seeking a companion with the message 'Help me build a strong nest'
I refer to this as her Grecian Fertility Dance, to attract 'Big Daddy'...a regular visiting male Ibis.
I know the different markings on each of their necks..and thar the male has a larger bill

It appears that Mim has brought me the light of hope. She is a strong mother, her black eyes are not menacing . Her bill is for finding grubs & she sang to me once with a 'Yuup, yuup yup', when I served her cooked oats with butter & sardine oil as a winter treat. Her wing span is impressive when she opens them out for a  stretch in the sunlight.

Perhaps I lost the structure of this poem,
in creating this,
But I have found some light ,
once more, in me.
