Analysis of My Treasure Chest
Deep within Busch Wildlife, there’s a treasure chest buried 6 ft down,
And its contents are far more precious than any jewel encrusted crown.
No map is needed to discover this treasure chest’s location,
For there’s a giant piece of granite marked with a special dedication.
Engraved into this granite are two days I carry in my heart,
The first date is the greatest, the second tore my world apart.
Between these two dates there’s a dash that represents our time together,
Even though it’s short, it holds memories I’ll cherish forever.
Why the second date had to come so soon, is not for me to understand,
But one thing I know for certain, my Landon resides in God’s Promised Land.
Losing a child to death, that’s something God and I both can relate,
Another thing we share is that our children walked through His narrow gate.
And just as God is in heaven with His dear beloved Son,
So will I be, when my time on earth is done.
God’s grace will be sufficient until the day He brings me home,
As He guides me along the way so in the darkness I’ll never roam.
Being in heaven with God and my son is not up for negotiation,
I remember this when the devil fills my world with devastation.
So I visit your grave to spend time with my beloved treasure,
Reminiscing on our memories is always my greatest pleasure.
At times, I lay above you and shower the earth with my tears,
Then God turns each tear into something beautiful as my cries reach His ears.
When I find my way back to you and see the green grass mixed with flowers,
I remember all the seeds that were sown from my tearful showers.
With all my soul, I wish my precious son never had to leave,
But we’ll be together for all eternity, this I truly do believe.
God says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be too.”
But that’s something I already knew, because my heart remains with you.
