Analysis of Spasm

Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)

Blissful realms
of dream evoked images

Drift together
then just as swiftly parting,

Lost into shadows
veils of synthetic sound

Hint at an impending
romantic interlude

As whispers of memories
which stimulate tides Of emotion.

An expanding corona strikes
The network of nerve endings

sending senses streaming,
coming at you like a locomotive

Shocks you into
a hyper alert state of confusion

As you awaken into a new reality,
a living hell, finding yourself,

screaming into
hurricane forged winds,

your vocal cords
are the hammer.

Your brain
Is the anvil,

continuously pounding you
to oblivion

Then back again,
carried by the shrieking winds

Connecting the vast chamber
of your inner being

Bringing anguish
back and forth

with each incremental pulse
of ever-thinning blood,

pounded Nearly into submission
by your overburdened heart

As you go crashing
from one realm to another

Never quite entertaining
coherent thought

In anyone,
before being blasted

into an exponential phase shift,
surpassed only by the feeling,

You want to get off the rollercoaster
Still, reeling beyond all known thresholds of pain

Never knowing
from moment to the next

How much longer
you might last,

exploding through places
you'd never known existed

Before, the blowtorch in your head
Creates a vortex that you fall mind first into

Leaving your body
rippling through the vacuum,

Like a flag
whipped by a strong wind

and what had formerly been your consciousness
has become inverted

your mind reeling
backwards into a trance

As every connection

to the torrent of impulses
In your brain hub

gets erased, as it Is ripped free
from every sense of continuity

Creating a chaotic flood
of manic voices

Transmuted into a tidal wave
of peaking echoes

Striking in waves
of lightning-fast impulses

Against what little in you
of humanity remains

Hitting so hard and fast
even your screams

Begin to merge and condense
into a new dimension,

With an odd sensation
of standing alone

On Another astral plain
circling back at you

Something you might find
that same pinging

In your disembodied mind
like cyclonic voices

driving the wind driven rain.

As life recollections find you,
emotions bind you.

As circumstances
blind you.

Suspended
in a slow-motion matrix

in a strobe effect

sending the baseball
Breaking through the window

back and forth,
Time and time again,

Unbearable sensations,
coursing through your body

from somewhere deep
within your skin

Running its course
like lightning

which Flashes through you
stem to stern.

To those who say

you'd slowed down
considerably

How can they begin
to understand?

While they host

a pity party
you'd never wanted,

You're the one
that’s getting burned

You never factor in
the current side effects

Of what it was to be
a noble course of choices,

Following the natural
universal flow,

a stream You'd never dreamed of
by loving on demand

not knowing
you'd be thrown a curve

beyond the realm
of what you'd understand

lost all hope
beyond what i could stand

For what
was written into the plan

In a hereto unknown calculus
Raising the threshold of pain

By a calculation
greater than

Of the number of stars
In Heaven
