Analysis of Somewhere in the Middle (Life Lies)
Isn't it something,
That there's as much evil in the ground
As good in the sky?
Isn't there something,
In the fact that there's torn up love letters,
And ripped off calendar pages
Decorating my floor?
Both who glitter by the sunlight of my window.
Because
Life lies somewhere in the middle
Of being untouchable
And needing to be held,
And sung to gently a while,
Life lies somewhere in the middle.
Of tragedy and romance,
Of you and I.
Of feeling stuck in place
And days that feel like flying
Through air!
Like days that you want to keep
In your pocket
And save for the dark times,
As that little bit of light.
But instead bleed through
the nightime into a new day.
Life lies somewhere in the middle.
Of Newton and Dylan,
Of feeling strong,
And missing your mom
Tucking you in at night.
And moonlight shinning on your
Gently pressed eyes,
Like a serene lullaby.
Life lies somewhere in the middle.
Life is held in place
By the good and the bad.
It lies in the eye of this
Perfect storm,
Fearless.
Yet it goes on.
It is stuck by nothing,
It glides right through time,
And by the end….
You stand there with your heart in your hands,
Bloody and blue,
And say
“Look what I did!”
I lived.
