Analysis of The Devil Wore a Keffiyeh

The Devil Wore a Keffiyeh

Last week the devil donned a keffiyeh
And sent his minions on a subhuman, abhorrent task
Initiating death, destruction and spreading fear
Reminding all of us how close we are to his hell

Opposing forces attacked in kind, an eye for an eye
No, more! Two eyes for one eye, two children for one child,
Two buildings for a home, two plots for one garden
The four horsemen of the Apocalypse, indeed, arrived

The dust and smoke embraced each other
In a violent dance more powerful than any wedding dance we could imagine
Most of us were uninvited guests just watching from afar
The devil’s orgy, his feast, his masterplan

We sit in our warm, cozy, intact cubicles
With gardens prim and proper, pruned trees, cut grass,
A feast of flowers of bright colors and delicious smells
Dollars in the bank, recreation boats in tow and Eras Tour tickets in hand
