Analysis of The Roads She Traveled
Taking a trip down good ole’ memory lane
Is often difficult without remembering the bad.
For they are two sides of the same coin;
The Happy along with the Sad.
Jodie was the adored first grandchild
Spoiled and tremendously loved.
That avenue took her to win “Little Miss Brazoria County”
And she seemed showered with blessings from above.
Jodie met John at an early age
And began a new path in her life.
She left her parents and two sisters
For a new journey as a mother and wife.
There were the struggles of the early years,
But that fork in the road led to the Stables.
The hard work, sweat & sacrifice
Was worth it for living her fairy tale fable.
The joy when she rode her horses
Was so plain for the eye to see.
The wind blowing through her hair
On the trail that made her feel wild and free.
Her sister Tracie was born with difficulties
And watching her struggle affected us all.
So Jodie made it a personal journey
To help others - with the help of a horse stall.
Remembering the path that she took
Are the thoughts that now cross our mind.
But let the memories of her good blessings and deeds
Be the legacy that Jodie now leaves behind.

About this poem
This was written for my older sister Jodie, who chose to leave us far too soon. Some choices cannot be undone...
