Analysis of Intrusive

Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)

It’s real
its power daunting
Its darkness hides behind light

Danger coexists flirtatiously
laughs and plays well with others

Feel the welcome mat beneath her feet disintegrate into the ground
truth is not wanted here

Slamming doors behind her
releasing secrets to the wind
tasting the salt impairing perfect vision
fingers tracing her bare bumps so smooth

Tugging at everything
tugging at nothing
memorizing the size of her fingers

Memories fade into what she thought she knew
mirrors don’t lie,
but do they?
