Analysis of Abuse Of The Heart

Robert Catron 1963 (Kansas)

Love doesn't hit you even in a fight,
No matter what they say it isn't right.
Never hit to love, it's just plain cruel
Love with your heart, it's the Golden Rule.
Oh, they say they're sorry, I say not,
They'll hit you again in the very same spot.
They prey on the goodness we keep in our heart,
They don't love you, not even from the start.
Sometimes they act to us so nice,
Next time they're mad we'll pay the price.
Don't believe a word, not one that they say,
It's just more lies in the games that they play.
Your love is wanted and that's a fact,
Its time for a plan, it's time to act.
Get out and a new life you'll find,
Someone to love you for you and treat you kind.
You say, "Ya right, how do you know it can be done",
I'm living proof, I made it out, wasn't easy or fun.
So get your stuff and get out of there,
There are people out here that really do care.

Dedicated to the memory of my father.
