Analysis of Can Someone Tell Me Why
Robert Catron 1963 (Kansas)
Have you ever wondered why we often hurt other people,
Then find ourselves on Sunday underneath a church steeple?
We go thru our daily lives living them like we're all that matter,
Never really looking back at all the people we walked over or feelings we shatter.
Why do we take others love for granted like they'll always be there,
And then when they leave us behind - we have the nerve to ask - 'Don't you even care'?
Why is it we'll take everything someone will give us without a doubt,
Then when it comes to giving back of ourselves - we leave the other person without?
Why is it we hurt people's feelings like we don't even care,
Then after they leave us we have the stupidity to wonder - Why aren't they there?
Why is it we never realize what we've got until their already gone away,
But when they're by our sides all we did was play the games that people play?
Sometimes we give all of our love away to someone but they never even see,
We're left so hurt all we can do is cry and wonder how can this be?
We hear it said that love can make you blind and I've found that to be true,
I think they should make special glasses giving us the ability to see right thru.
I've known people in my life so in love with another person - but never let them know,
Then slowly watch them as they let their lives fall apart - watching someone else - take them and go.
Why is it that the most beautiful people in this world are mostly just skin deep,
Once you get to know some of them you find a person you don't even want to keep?
I've always wondered why looks had to be a part of love anyway,
All of our looks slowly fade away leaving us all wishing for yesterday.
Why can't we just fall in love from the inside out,
Then maybe the world would finally find out what true love is all about.
