Analysis of Real Friends...
Robert Catron 1963 (Kansas)
Real friends are someone that you've known for awhile,
They don't keep track of your mistakes and put them in a file.
They don't ever judge you for the times when you've done wrong,
For they've wrote a few words in their own mistakes song.
They'll give you a shoulder when you need a place to cry,
You hear them say they'll be there for you till the day they die.
If you look over your shoulder and see a coming attack,
You never have to worry for they've always got your back.
If ever you're faced with trouble they're there to be a friend,
When the rules don't help the situation - for you the rules they'll bend.
They never judge your looks - for they know looks fade away,
They're still by your side as a friend when your hair turns to grey.
They remember all the times you put their needs first - even thou there was no need,
They don't care what you do or don't have for they're not into greed.
When your down and out and no one else is around,
Right by your side is where they can always be found.
They'll always cheer you up when you begin to feel low,
They're the one who holds you tighter just to let their love show.
If someone's broke your heart they're with you all the way,
They'll put your needs first no matter if it's night or day.
They'll still be your friend even when you've down something wrong,
You know they'll show you understanding thru their own hearts song.
If you didn't have any money you know they'd buy you lunch,
You'd give them your last piece of bread just because it would mean a bunch.
If someone is making fun of you they're right there by your side,
They won't let anyone hurt you not even your pride.
For if you ever hurt them they'd talk to you in a private place,
And then not tell anyone of your spoken words - nobody likes a two face.
Even if you're ugly they'd tell you that you are as beautiful as a star,
Because when it comes to loving you - that's the kind of friend that they are.
Say you're at a party and you've had too much to drink,
They'd gladly hold your hand if your were getting sick in the sink.
Even if they saw you look at them with your eyes full of lust,
They'd know your only human and still be a friend you could trust.
They wouldn't look down on you in a judge mental way,
You'd probably share a dirty joke or two and just laugh it all away.
If you had a secret you could tell them without a doubt,
And never once have to worry about anyone else ever finding out.
This is how real friends are - at least it's how I feel it should be,
If you feel the same ways I do - Would you be a friend with me?
