Analysis of Rising Anew
Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)
A bullet would have been preferred
instead I caught a sickness
intertwining in my bloodstream
breaking what was not broken
while altering sustainable genetics
Diagnosed with impure love
how can I ever create my village now
it would be dancing with chaos and sorrows
fighting to live instead of creating memories
the sickness I caught was you
and I will never be the same again
How does it feel to be whole?
though to be whole yet incomplete
I do not want to know that life
Yes I would rather have holes
surrounding my heart then being whole
with a rotten prosthetic taking its place
So I guess I shall thank you
not for the damage done
but for not taking my heart with you
for not robbing me of human decency
