Analysis of I am
Written by Lori A. Powell
I am an all American white girl
Born of the human race
In the United States of America
It’s written all over my face.
I live in Northern California
Where we keep the boys warm at night
Lover of Jesus
Follower of Christ
A servant of the Lord
And the girl with the longest horns
Short and simple
Be honest and don’t lie
Not a leader but a giver
Enjoy the simple things in life
If you ask me if I need anything
I will say
A million dollars a castle on a hill and a Bugatti Veyron.
They don’t rhyme but that’s ok.

About this poem
I guess I filled out too many job applications because I found myself wanting to rebuttal the section where you have to mark your ethnic race. Some applications only print the word “race”. Well it got me thinking.
