Analysis of Forever Isn’t Long Enough

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

Forever Isn’t Long Enough

I am staring all by myself
Through an empty life alone
With no one here to hold me
In the dark, cold to the bone
The calendar reminds me
How much time has flown
Long days seem shorter now
Solitude is all I own.

I see you across the way
You smile and wave to me
Your name is all I know
Your face is all I see
And the gaze I give to you
In gratitude is yours
Know deep down in my heart
You’re the one that’s for sure.

I wanna reach out to you
And hear you speak my name
Touch me with your hand now
So I can feel you just the same
Beating with my own
Take me to a place
Where love makes a home
Redefining time and space.

This is what I wish for
I swear I felt it before
Sometimes life is lonely
When love walks out the door
Lead me to your garden
Leave behind the other stuff
Let’s give each other love
Forever isn’t long enough.
