Analysis of Barriers
We interact with space in peculiar ways.
We run, dance and do somersaults when we play.
We can’t see the barriers
that divide our world,
but that’s not to say they’re not there.
The barrier of time is of our own making.
We place stress and expectations on ourselves.
We don’t think about reasons,
except when we fail.
Don’t we know pride leads to a fall?
The barrier of thought can affect our well-being.
A negative attitude can breed contempt.
We all want to be happy –
too often we’re not,
because of the way that we think!
The barrier of love can be a bridge to life.
If we open our hearts in a caring way
by giving to those in need -
our time and our love -
then the light in our hearts will shine.
The barrier of race is a race against time.
We choose to treat other people differently.
Just because their skin’s not white,
or were born elsewhere
does not give us this right of choice.
The barriers that deprive people of freedom
take away rights and responsibilities.
We lose all our confidence –
and much self-esteem,
that portray lives without purpose.
So, recognise barriers by knocking down walls
and valuing diversity and difference.
We all want to be happy
and live useful lives
and know in our hearts that we cared.
