Analysis of Pressed flower

I have learned
not to
squeeze too tight
because it hurts,

but I do it still
because I am never quite sure
if I am asleep
and you are a dream,

or worse -

that you are real;

and one day
all I will have
is the memory of you,
and the fading echo
of well intentioned zeal.
