Plus riche assez que ne se montrait celle
Qui apparut au triste Florentin,
Jetant ma vue au rivage latin,
Je vis de loin surgir une nacelle :

Mais tout soudain la tempête cruelle,
Portant envie à si riche butin,
Vint assaillir d'un aquilon mutin
La belle nef des autres la plus belle.

Finalement l'orage impétueux
Fit abîmer d'un gouffre tortueux
La grand richesse à nulle autre seconde.

Je vis sous l'eau perdre le beau trésor,
La belle nef, et les roches encor,
Puis vis la nef se ressourdre sur l'onde.
