Analysis of Dave & j

When Dave found out J was gay
it was J’s secret he didn’t want
Dave’s tougne to slip away

But Dave couldn’t keep it to himself
so Dave had to trust someone else

Dave begged to keep this between the three of them
and please don’t you tell another friend

But Dave’s aunt nosy Rosie, was the wrong one
She couldn’t wait to tell
her bully brothers and smart-ass son

The next Sunday when J showed up for church that day
He didn’t know why they did not call him up to pray
And there was boards he’d gained they’d took away

All the local papers was releasing print
and the news was being sent
even in the USA TODAY!

Almost everywhere instead of feeling pleased,
J was being teased

When J found out the reason why
it made him so upset he had to cry
he called on Jesus to wipe his eyes

And then J kicked the damned chair

Slander ain’t no joke but maybe just maybe
it was Daves flaunty openness that was why
he was accepted by many folk

Besides in the end
Dave and some slanderous gossip folk helped hang his friend
and they didn’t need a rope
