Analysis of Extraction Reaction

Tacks pointing,
shards reflecting broken images,
pins and needles bouncing in close
proximity
to me.
I watch my steps closely
my eyes redefined
but still the sharpness tears,
breaking inside my lines.
I take it with a grim smile,
one I can fake
until their edges become rounded,
a softer sort of ache.
