Analysis of It looked like love
what began with a kiss
ends with a wave of the hand,
the shattering of a heart,
the burning of love
on a pyre of letters and cards
exchanged over happy years.
what exactly went wrong?
neither one cares to ask
how did the ending come?
who was to blame?
when did one become two?
they go their separate ways.
it was never love, she says,
or it would not have died.
it looked like love, he says,
when I held it up to the light.
but in the darkness where she cried
he dreamed love an undying magic
