Analysis of Ocean Trail Walk

I hear the crunching of sand and pebbles beneath my feet
as I walk alone towards the cliffs.
Scents of yellow blossoms and sea sprays
penetrate my lungs.
A crisp cold breeze lightly flings hair
across my face.
Then I slowly stop
and listen.
All is silent
except for a lonely seagulls cry.
I look up and see
that she is only a tiny white speck
in a huge blue sky.
I wish I could live here.
On one of these hills of sandy grasses
With a breeze constantly sighing in my head
I would be content.
I slowly begin to walk again
silently brushing my hands along the tips of tall grasses beside me.
All I see from this high cliff
is shoreline below me
stretching into the distance.
I begin to hear the sounds of crashing waves.
A sudden gust of wind quickens my pace
and I find that I have reached the end of the trail.
A steep incline prevents me from going any further.
So I softly sit down on the sand and grasses.
Brushing off my hands with reverence
Turning my head and gazing out into the horizon
I see the ocean in all of it's glory.
Waves glisten in the sunlight making me squint.
I raise my hand and shade my eyes from the sun's soft glare.
I shall never forget this moment
This feeling
This longing
This love.
As a soft breeze brushes my cheek
I close my eyes and wish for peace
then slowly I open them
and realize
that I have already found it.
Peace is here.
