Analysis of Shifting Shadows

When weighing a smile
you measure its worth
not by its size but,
by how real it is.

Seduced by romance
you're courted by bliss,
and yet passion's flame
can burn out in time.

Salvaging fragments
of shattered ego,
you no longer feel
invulnerable.

And donning your mask
of conformity,
you simply merge with
the shifting shadows.
