Analysis of sweet crest of absolution

Stable and soft is the heartbeat
which lullingly pulses inside,
though steady can’t save my surrender
from this want of a dream I can’t hide.

The vision becomes my existence,
the rapture embodies my being.
My truth, lustful reverie’s persistence
within my closed eyes I am seeing.

Each pore is a galaxy yearning,
every curve is infinity’s end.
I could drown in the crest of self serving
my whole night to this thrilling pretend.

A vast absolution swells through me.
The edge comes upon me, undone,
at the echo of my lover’s calling
undulating in my breathless lungs.

Jana Satterlund

I wrote my first poem at the age of 10. Although I enjoyed reading and writing poetry, I didn't truly appreciate it until a few years ago. At 21 I started really writing for myself as a release. It has surely become my escape, my late night ritual, my confession. I feel honored to be a part of this community where so many talented poets come together. I appreciate any sentiment and am elated at the opportunity to comment on so many beautiful pieces! more…
