THE RAPE OF DEMOCRACY
When Liberals equals Labor
Then all hope is truly lost,
Despite our three-year electoral term
Democracy is the cost.
The Liberals are the Labor now
The Labor the reverse,
It’s hard to think of anything
That could be truly worse.
The Aussie Democrats have gone
With oh so great finality,
By keeping silent of the crime
They’ve blown their last credibility.
Now Malcolm too is mouthing off
We hope for the last time,
He calls on all his Liberal cronies
To support the heinous crime.
So democracy has sure fallen now
Down to the political dirt,
And no-one dares to speak aloud
Of how justice has been hurt.
Pauline polled fourteen Percent
But fourteen was turned to nought,
When the Liberals became the Labor
And worked their evil rort.
The Aussie Democrats have spent their time
Whining and whinging about anomalies,
But strange enough were silent when
Democracy was treated monstrously.
When Labor became the Liberals
The Liberals were the Labor too,
Life was never meant to be easy
And justice had been screwed.
THE END

About this poem
In 2007 Australia's two main parties (Liberal and Labor) effectively merged for a single election to stomp a third party out of existence. Although Australia First was a ratbag party, next time it could be an important party. The Rape of Democracy in Australia must never be forgiven and must never be forgotten.
