TOO MANY BOYS

Dr. T. Pinnock 1962 (Hartford, Ct)

Too many boys, every Christmas, get too many toys!!!!!!
Josh and Ted, they sleep in the same bed.
Ted turns red.
Huby and Pat, they fight on the mat.
Don and Ray, they are O.K.
James and Jack, they got a whack!!!
They are all a pair,
So there .............

One’s a nut,
Josh got cut.
Are mother and father always hollering because .....
We all are???
But they miss,
The two little ones are nine and ten.
The middle ones are fourteen and fourteen.
They are clean.
Fifteen and sixteen, they are strong and long.
Twenty and twenty-two, they say go to bed.
One has a friend names Pete.
Ain’t that sweet?

I have a friend names Rich,
He’s an itch.
Now I have to take a bow.

Dr. T. Pinnock

Dr. Pinnock first wrote poetry in the institution he resided in inside a classroom at 8 years old. The typewriter was old and manual with a keyguard. A keyguard is a device with an opening for each key to prevent a person lacking fine motor skills from accidentally hitting a key. Dr. Pinnock was granted permission to use the class alone. He labored there typing for hours ignoring his cerebral palsy. Dr. Pinnock grew up with his family until August of 1970. Poverty forced his parents to make him a ward of the State of Connecticut. more…
